  • JULY UPDATE

    "Happy Boy"

    "Thoughtful Boy"

    "Scary Boys"

    "Scarier Boys"

    FRESH FISH

We're REALLY pleased with Evan's swimming lessons thus far.  He's learning quickly AND having fun at the same time!

Evan's scared of tractors and band aids, but drowning doesn't bother him!  He had to sit out for a bit because he let go of the wall multiple times for fun......because he's so light, he SINKS to the bottom!

    TEPPAN EVAN??

The food was actually tasty and we had a blast!

    SAN BERNARDINO MUSEUM

It was our second time there, but this time Elena and Family were hosting play group.  All the kids had so much fun, and the brown sack lunches they prepared were a hit!  Thank you Saesim Family!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY HABUJI

It was such a busy weekend with my dad in town that we barely took any pictures!  But we all had a GREAT time and can't wait for him to come back again!

     OC FAIR

WHY did we not come here when we lived in Orange County?

We didn't know that this was actually an ADULT slide, but Evan and Abba still loved it!

We found the KIDDY slide in another location so Umma was able to ride!

I begged to ride with him but HE said "You go by yourself, okay? Don't be scared".

The 'ol man is going to have a HEART ATTACK if he eats any more fried food this month...........but eating is the FUNNEST part of the fair!   Yummmm!

    Until next time..........

  • Since we last met..........

Funky.  Why is everything 'funky'?  Who said that? Where did he learn it from?  Why can't I keep a straight face when I hear, "Umma, I smell something Funky." "Umma, what is that? It's Funky."

I asked Dean about the new word, and his response was, "he learned it from YOU!!!"  oops, *change subject*.

SOPHIE, EVAN AND LEXIE MEET AT SEALIFE

SeaLife now shows the stages of an embryo within a sea creature!  It's so cool and so 'Body Works'....oooh.

    CARS, CARS, AND MORE CARS!

We do this no matter the time, no matter the weather.  We've gone to car shows at the tail end, in 105 degree heat, and in heavy, 91 traffic.  It's just a phase in life but right now he LOVES it!

When we can't go to a car show, we make our own.

    D-LAND WITH THE IM'S

Alexis and Austin are so much fun!  I wish we lived closer to each other

We had such a blast with all of you!!  You HAVE to come back!

FOURTH OF JULY WEEEND WITH THE SAESIM FAMILY IN PALM SPRINGS....AGAIN!

People think we're crazy bearing the heat of 110 degrees, intentionally, for the second year in a row!  But it's soooo worth it!

The guys golfed (Dean's so thrilled about shooting par, btw) so Elena and I ran to Cabazon for turbo-shopping.  We literally ran from store to store, sweating, laughing, yet loving it!

After the boys went down, this is what the older Saesims did....Elena even made sure to have her chocolate covered gummy bears with her!

The firework show was at the stadium.  It was spectacular!

  • LIAOS' VS. BEARS

    OUR FIRST CAMPING TRIP

The 'ol man's been trying to get me to go camping with him since we were first married, but living in the woods is not my idea of a vacation. Believe me, it's not that I don't like nature......I just like it a lot more when we're staying a clean hotel room

But after much encouragement from the Chang Family, we all went up to YOSEMITE......

Renting an RV helped with two little kids.

The boys went a little stir crazy after several hours.

It was so nice traveling with the Yoo family again but it was even more comforting knowing there was an ER doc in your group

It was our family's first time in Yosemite so we checked out the falls, El Capitan and Half Dome.  The water falls were enormous and Evan's favorite part of the trip.

The higher of the two falls was incredible.

Second day was an afternoon of biking and picnicing.

The night before our departure, we finally roasted marshmallows and made smores....then I started realizing why people like camping so much!

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....there's something very different, grounding, and organic about camping.  I want to instill appreciation for the outdoors in Evan the way I appreciate a Starwood hotel room, but it's gonna be tough.

Thanks Yoo's and Chang's for all the 'fun'!

  • MANY MAY MEMORIES

We had a jam packed month but it was a lot of fun.

The "three's" have brought a new dynamic to this household.  Evan's a lot more inquisitive and asks a lot of good questions.  He still loves cars, but he also loves his friends, outdoor animals, insects, sea life, traveling and catching the ball.  He dislikes anything artistic (just like Umma) but hopefully that'll change.

He begins preschool this September at First United Methodist Preschool in Riverside and we're confident that he's going to love it!

Evan gets an ecocardiogram every 6 months and it's stressful waiting to hear what the Cardiologist has to say about his little heart.  In the past, he's said to wait until Evan's a little 'older' to determine if there's any other procedures that need to be performed, but this time he assures us that Evan's very healthy and we don't have to anticipate any complications......what a RELIEF!!!!!!!!!!

    SWIMMING LESSONS

First time: Great.  Second time: screamed in the instructor's ear for 30 minutes.  Third time: hesitant and fearful.  Changed class time to a.m.: PERFECT.

    UMMA'S DAY

    Ummas' in Palm Springs.

    Ended Umma Day with "Earth".

    WEEDEND IN SAN FRANCISCO

It was a GREAT trip to S.F..  We did A LOT in one weekend thanks to the best hosts!

Pac-Heights Park could make me move to S.F.  Relaxing in front of a 180 degree view of the city is breathtaking.

We went up to celebrate Sienna's Dohl.....Happy Birthday 'Baby #2'!  We love you!!

After Pacific Heights, the Yoo's took us to Alcatraz!

Now Evan knows where he'll go if he's naughty, but he's still not scared.....he was jumping around, laughing, and having a great time......he said, "it's fun here!".

This is the view from the prison.  Not so bad if you ask me!

    `

The day after the city, we hung out in Napa Valley all day starting with Martini House.

Afterwards, Betty reserved tours for Jimmy, Dean and I at Castello Di Amorosa which is the castle built by the owner of Vie Sattui. Auntie Betty volunteered to watch all three kids while we were tasting wine out of the barrel!  That's a good/brave friend.

We didn't have to do anything and we still would've had fun, but it was nice to share experiences with such good friends.  Thank you Jimmy, Betty, Sabrina and Sienna for everything!

    "YOUR CHILD CAN READ"

Evan was recently hired for a small part in the series to "Your Baby Can Read" called "Your Child Can Read".  Once he's old enough he's not going to forgive me for making him dress up like a mouse and walk like a model.  It was hilarious!

    RECENT VISITS

Sabrina Noona has become a teenager!  I first met her when she was Evan's age and now she's wearing my clothes!

Thanks Baby Brandon for coming to visit us!  You're so so precious and always welcome anytime your Umma wants to get out of the house!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY HALMUNI!

The Sushi Chef at Kitiyama thought Evan was funny so he made him 'sushi babies'.

    COOLING OFF AT LEGOLAND:

This is a MUST during the hot summer months in So. Cal.  They had a blast.  Afterwards, we camped inside where it's cool so we could build and race Lego cars.

    HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY JACOB SAESIM!!

The party was at Spaghetti Factory and SO much fun!  It's the perfect place to celebrate and almost stress free!  Only the Party Planning Extraordinares would think of it.

    3 YEAR EXAMINATION:

There's a reason why big kids like Dr. Lin become Pediatricians.  Up until the vaccination, our boy had a blast!

Wedding of Jonathan and Julie Kim

Thank you for letting us share your special day!  You are a beautiful couple!

    MISC:

Until next time, thanks for visiting!

  • Almost everyday I ask him, "Are YOU my baby boy?", and he always says "YES!"

On his 3rd birthday I asked again, "Are YOU my baby boy?", this time he said "NO!"

    "WHAT????"

"I'm not a baby boy.  I'm your "baby BIG boy" now.

    EVAN'S 3rd BIRTHDAY PARTY

'SWEET TOOTH CUPCAKES' = so good AND so adorable!

Thank you UNCLE JOHN LEE for capturing the fun at Evan's party and thank you IMO'S for helping out so much!

Thank you FRIENDS AND FAMILY for making it a memorable day!

And thank you EVAN for another wonderful year!  We love you!  ~Abba and Umma

  • ORANGE COUNTY CAR SHOW

It was like being at the greatest amusement park for our little car-lover. "They're gorgeous", "I'm so happy", and "Its such a beautiful day" were just a few comments he made.

This guy saw Evan pointing at his car so he asked if Evan wanted to cruise with him. It was a definite YES.

Evan never wants to pose but on this day he kept saying "TAKE MY PICTURE!"  The white Camero was his favorite.

This Shelby sold for $250,000!!!  Must be nice

  • Its been 4 months but it only feels like 4 days!!!!!!!!!
There has been so much thats happened in our lives, but we'll start with the most current......

    Photobucket
I put off blogging when we decided to list our house in Orange County.  As soon as you try to relocate in this market, it takes over your life!!  Whenever we had a break we'd try to do something fun for Evan, especially because he helped keep the house clean for potential buyers and missed out on a lot of other things.
    Photobucket

We're back in the 951!!!  It's still hard to believe but we felt the move was necessary for several reasons.  It's closer to family, friends, smaller mortgage payment, and bigger home for the addition to our family in a year or two.  We're not pregnant yet, but we'd like to be before we turn 50.

    Photobucket

There's a reason why moving is the second, biggest stresser in life.  I'm not doing this again for at least a decade!

    Lets catch up.........

He's still into old, classic cars and can't get enough of em.  He remembers each car he has and who bought it for him.  Tomorrow we're going to the O.C. fair to see them in person.  He's so excited and can hardly wait!

Second favorite thing is candy or ice cream, then TV, then reading.
Because he's older now, Evan's a lot more aware of Umma and Abba's emotions.  He always asks if we're happy, but if we're stern he says we're 'mean'.  He continues to mature and change but he's still as social and energetic as ever
We have to get outside more!!!

    GOING BACK IN TIME

    Thanksgiving

THE GOOD TIMES IN EARLY DECEMBER

    CHRISTMAS 2008

    SUPERBOWL PARTY!
    Happy Birthday Noah Hyung!

FEB 28: LIAO/OH VACA IN SCOTTSDALE
    Smiley Samantha
    Curious Christian
BNE: Best Nanny Ever!  Since the twins are still so young, Jennie and Tommy were smart enough to bring Chloe along and we ALL loved her!

    THE LATEST
Gomo turned 70 so my Uncle threw her a huge surprise party!  The shock on her face when she came through the doors will last in my memory forever!

Our whole extended family came down from Washington, Oregon, and Nevada!  It was sooooo good to see everyone!
Come back again soon!  We already miss you!

After the family left, we occupied ourselves by going bumper bowling!
Hopefully it won't be too long before our next post, but do you think we might have broken the record for the longest entry ever???

Our annual neighborhood block party was just as fun as the previous two we've experienced since moving to South Orange County.  Unfortunately, we're selling our house so this is our last time we'll be able to do this.  We're so lucky to have had friendly, cool, and very sweet neighbors that look out for each other.

    ELECTION DAY 2008

    IMG_2169.jpg picture by forevansworld

Since it will mark the biggest election in history, our Baby Boy had to be a part of it.  Mommy lugged him to the voting booth just to cast her ballot.

    IMG_2304.jpg picture by forevansworld

Last Saturday, Evan biffed it!  This time he fell on the pavement and cut his lip in multiple places.....ouch!!  But this is how boys get tough, right? Teeth are still intact so Mommy's happy.
